Class Profile:Miss Clarke Mrs Haywood Year 4In the Autumn term Year 4 learnt about the Egyptians. The children produced their own Egyptian newspaper reports and made some Egyptian style bags in DT. We were lucky enough to get a very special Egyptian visitor in to work alongside the children to produce some amazing artefacts. In the spring term the topic was animals, the children learned all about different habitats and where different animals come from. We took a trip to Dudley zoo where we met the animal man and some of his animals close up. The children were very brave and touched lizards, frogs and even a giant cockroach. The children used this visit to plan a debate about zoos and researched carefully the issues surrounding this. In the summer term our topic is chocolate, we are learning about liquids and solids in science and looking at how different materials melt. In D & T the children are designing and producing their own chocolate wrappings and making some chocolate treats as well as learning about the importance of healthy eating. We are planning a trip to Cadbury World and are all very excited about this. This year we have been lucky enough to have a specialist music teacher to work alongside Years 4 and 5 teaching them drumming. The children have enjoyed this immensely and performed to the school and parents recently to show how much they have learned. We are currently working on a new drumming piece and hope to be performing again before the end of the year. Homework is given every week and includes Literacy Numeracy Spellings and Reading. We would like all parents to support their child's learning at home as this helps them to make progress and develop key skills further. |
