Class Profile:

Miss Hill

Miss D Clarke

Year 3

In Year 3 during the Autumn Term we learnt all about World War II. We took part in lots of creative activities‚ including having a bombsite role-play area in our classroom. We used this to do lots of interesting writing. We also went on a school trip to Cosford Royal Air Force Museum. We looked at the war aeroplanes and took part in war workshops where we made our own gas mask carriers and went down into the air raid shelter. We also had a speaker come into school who was a child during the war who told us lots of new information and exciting stories.

Also in History‚ during our Spring Term we learnt about 'The Romans'. We went on another school trip to the ' Glass Cone Museum' where we handled Roman artefacts and dressed up as the people of the Roman times. As a class we made a Roman fort with Miss Hill and Mrs Walker to become our role play area. Over this stands our Roman shield and dragon from our Myths and Legends Literacy genre. This inspired us for our myths writing based on the stories 'George and the Dragon' and the 'Dragon slayer'.

This year in Science we have had lots of fun. We have all grown our own broad bean plants and have had a competition for whose grows the tallest. This was part of our ' how plants grow' topic.  We have also made our own fossils out of play dough and plaster and paris. We used these in our 'Rocks and Fossils' topic and were able to take them home to show our parents and carers.

During our Summer Term we are now looking at how we can develop our local environment as our Geography project. We are basing our research on the book 'The view from the window' by Jeannie Baker. We have chosen the part of the school which we think can be improved and hope to present our findings in a whole class assembly later on in the term.
