Background![]() How much do you know about the history of our schools? Over the past term, year five have been working with John and Theresa from Creative Partnerships to research about our school. We interviewed Miss Cole and asked her to tell us about the project. The children have looked at the history of the oldest part of our school which is now the Croft Centre. This oldest part of the school is going to be knocked down over the summer and the project is a way of finding out about it before it is gone. The children visited the Walsall History Centre to look at old document from the school. Miss Cole said that her favourite things were the attendance books. She found out that if the attendance was good in school that the Head teacher would give all the children a day off. Maybe we should be suggesting this to Mr Dickson! The class saw an eight hundred year old piece off writing which was on a animal skin. The children had to wear a set of gloves to hold the documents to make sure that nothing was damaged. Everyone is taking photographs to record what they are doing. The class hope to display it at the end off the year. |
